By Soledad Delgado Oyarzún, Andrés Valenzuela-Sánchez
ONG Ranita de Darwin is Chile's first non-profit organisation dedicated entirely to the conservation, research, and public outreach of the country's amphibians and their habitats. Established in 2015, it works to safeguard Chile's natural heritage through the research and protection of amphibians and native forests, driving conservation actions in collaboration with communities and institutions. Since 2014 it has maintained a long-term monitoring programme across the full range of the Southern Darwin's frog (Rhinoderma darwinii), and its work spans chytridiomycosis research and mitigation, private-land conservation through the Yo Protejo Mis Ranitas programme, capacity building, education and outreach, and national policy engagement, including the Plan RECOGE for Darwin's frogs led by Chile's Ministry of the Environment.
