Dr Matt West

Dr Matt West is an applied wildlife and threatened species ecologist based in Victoria, Australia. With a background in reproductive biology, captive management and amphibian ecology, Matt is the Director of Wild Research Pty Ltd, which is dedicated to the recovery of threatened species. Many of the Wild Research projects focus on understanding the status of amphibian populations, identifying the factors influencing population dynamics, and taking on-ground action to conserve the populations most at risk of extinction. Wild Research now delivers a broad range of recovery projects in collaboration with Traditional Owner groups, the community, government organisations, and other conservation groups. Matt is also a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne's School of BioSciences, developing novel strategies to protect amphibians from chytrid fungus.
