Focus regions: Indomalayan
Sherlo Adha Maulana is a Master's student at Universitas Bengkulu specializing in herpetology, focusing on Sumatran ranids with gastromyzophorous tadpoles as his focal taxa. His academic work is deeply rooted in field research and conservation across Bengkulu, where he has collaborated as a research assistant on amphibian conservation projects in partnership with the Leibniz-Institut zur Analyse des Biodiversitätswandels (2024–2025) and the Bengkulu Province Department of Environment and Forestry (2025). This work includes herpetofauna explorations in a local protected forest to map biodiversity and evaluate habitat health. Beyond taxonomic and ecological surveys, he extends his assistantship to cross-disciplinary initiatives, collaborating with a researcher from Columbus State University to investigate indigenous perspectives on ecological change and climate impacts in Sumatra (2025). Through these roles, he aims to advance empirical field herpetology and contribute to effective conservation strategies for Sumatra's unique lotic ecosystems.
