Víctor J. Acosta-Chaves, M.Sc. is a Costa Rican biologist, herpetologist, and naturalist from Heredia. For over a decade he has studied amphibian and reptile ecology and conservation in Costa Rica's rainforests and cloud forests.

More recently his work has examined how species persist in human-modified landscapes—urban and peri-urban areas, biological corridors, and agricultural matrices—with a special focus on the Golden-eyed Coffee Frog (Agalychnis annae). Since 2011 he has also worked as an independent consultant in environmental impact assessment, biological monitoring, and conservation planning.
